NSS has been a platform for millions of young volunteers to actively contribute to nation building through various social welfare activities. Its guiding motto ” Not Me, But You ” reflects the essence of selfless service. Every year, NSS week is celebrated from 18 September to 24 September with great enthusiasm across India, reflecting the invaluable contribution of NSS volunteers.

Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, whose visionary leadership and selfless dedication to creating positive societal change stand as a remarkable example for all. He has significantly inspired everyone to showcase the spirit of community service and civic engagement. He is the biggest example of bringing positive change without expecting anything in return.

Event –Viksit Bharat 2047-Next generation Reforms

Organized by – Kalinga Institute of Management

Venue – KSOM Auditorium, Campus 7

The NSS Week Inauguration at KSOM, with Chief Guest Lt. Col. Manish Dogra sir, aimed to inspire young volunteers towards Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasizing youth’s role in nation-building. The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by Lt. Col. Dogra and faculty members. The audience then united to sing the National Anthem, marking the start. He urged NSS volunteers to contribute actively to national development. It was followed by cultural events like Music, Dance and a impactful Nukkad Natak

Event – Legal Aid Camp

Organized by – KIIT School of Law

Venue – Patharagadia VillageKhordha

The NSS Unit of KIIT School of Law organized a legal aid camp during NSS Week for the residents of Patharagadia village, aiming to raise awareness about legal rights and responsibilities. Esteemed guests Advocate Rajat Panda and Advocate Ajaya Kumar Swain shared their legal expertise on topics like land rights and government schemes. The camp empowered villagers with valuable legal knowledge, making it a successful initiative in promoting legal awareness and community service.

Event – Quiz

Organized by – KIIT School of Mass Communication

Venue – Campus 18 Auditorium

The School of Mass Communication organized a three-tiered quiz competition, starting with a preliminary round and culminating in a thrilling final. The event aimed to foster intellectual engagement, with Prof.  Dr. BiduBhusan Dash, Acting Dean, recognizing the winners and participants during the prize distribution ceremony. Refreshments and a vibrant atmosphere contributed to the event’s success.

Event – Mega Tree Plantation Drive

Organized by – KIIT NSS Bureau

As part of NSS Week, the KIIT NSS Bureau organized a successful plantation drive at KISS University, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. Volunteers enthusiastically planted saplings across the campus, contributing to a greener future and reinforcing the importance of ecological balance. The event emphasized the role of youth in protecting nature and creating a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.

Event –Digital & Financial Literacy Competition

Organized by – KIIT School of Computer Application

As part of NSS Week at KIIT University, the School of Computer Applications organized a Photography, Digital Poster Making, and Reel Making competition to promote digital literacy and creativity among NSS volunteers. The event focused on themes like community service, youth leadership, and women empowerment. Participants showcased their talent, and the top entries were awarded for their originality, creativity, and impactful social messaging, making it a significant highlight of the NSS Week celebrations.

Event – Dengue Awareness Camp

Organized by – Kalinga School of Dental Sciences

Venue – Pathargadiya School and Village

The Dengue awareness camp organized by the NSS unit of Kalinga School of Dental Science was to educate the community about dengue disease and how to prevent its spread. The highlight was the participation of enthusiastic NSS volunteers who used banners and placards to spread awareness among school children and villagers, making the campaign highly effective and well-received.

Event – Blood Donation Camp

Organized By – Kalinga School of BioTechnology  (KSBT)

Venue – In front of Library ,Campus 11

The blood donation camp organized by the NSS unit of KSBT was to encourage students and staff to contribute to a life-saving cause by donating blood. The highlight of the event was the active participation of 75 volunteers from across the university, guided by experienced doctors, resulting in a significant collection of blood units to assist patients in need.

As part of NSS Week, KIIT School of Nursing Science conducted a First Aid Training session, empowering participants with essential life-saving skills. The session covered key techniques in emergency response, including CPR, wound care, and handling medical emergencies. Attendees gained practical knowledge to act swiftly in critical situations, reinforcing the importance of preparedness and community health awareness.

Event – Flashmob

Organized By – Kalinga School of Bio-Technology (KSBT)

Venue –  In front of Chemical Technology Building, Campus-11

The flashmob organized by the NSS unit of KSBT was to raise awareness about the impact of NSS on society, covering themes like environmental conservation, blood donation, and mental health. The highlight was the energetic performance by 100 volunteers at Campus-11, which effectively conveyed social messages, engaged a large audience, and sparked discussions on the importance of NSS initiatives.

Event – Cleanliness Drive

Organized by – KIIT NSS Bureau

Venue – Gandhi Chawk, Campus 6 KIIT

The main objective of the cleanliness drive organized by the NSS on 22nd September 2024 was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste and promote environmental conservation. The highlight was the participation of 200 enthusiastic volunteers from various schools who collected plastic waste and cleaned different parts of the KIIT campus, making a significant impact on promoting a cleaner and greener environment.

The NSS unit of the School of Economics and Commerce organized a vibrant Cultural Night on 22nd September 2024, celebrating the spirit of community service and cultural diversity during NSS Week. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Ajit Kumar Kushwaha (NSS Youth Officer, RD Bhubaneswar), Dr. Raghunath Mandal (ADPO, NSS Khordha), and Ms. Avantika Pattanaik (AAO, Cultural, KSAC, KIIT-DU). Performances by NSS volunteers from 12 schools addressed themes like ‘Say No to Drug Addiction,’ ‘Women Empowerment,’ and ‘Patriotism,’ making it a memorable and impactful night.

Event – Woman Safety Awareness

Organized by – Kalinga School of Computer Engineering and Kalinga School of Mechanical Engineering

Venue – Campus-7 MBA Auditorium, KIIT

The seminar on women’s safety aimed to address critical issues of women’s safety in contemporary society, including cybersecurity and online harassment. Mrs. Namrata Chadha, former Chairperson of the Odisha State Women Commission, was the chief guest.  It concluded with a cultural program, offering valuable insights into fostering a safer society.

Event – NSS Day Celebration

Organized by – KIIT NSS Bureau

Venue – KIIT Convention Centre, Campus 6

KIIT NSS Bureau celebrated NSS Day on September 24, 2024, with Dr. Sundara Narayana Patro, Former Founder Secretary of the Odisha Environmental Society, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU, delivering the Presidential Address. The event also saw the inauguration of the KIIT NSS website and bulletin. The First Aid Training Camp organized by the Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences unit was a key highlight, where 300 volunteers trained school students. Eight volunteers were awarded the Best Volunteer Award 2023-2024, recognizing their dedication and service.
